| Singapore government agencies lend support to TUM-NUS projects |
Singapore - Two research projects between Technische Universität München (TUM) and National University of Singapore (NUS) are now underway, thanks to the support from two government agencies – Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) and Ministry of Education (MOE).
The projects which received a total of $1.5 million in funding are in the field of organometallic chemistry and catalysis.
Dr. Zhao Jin, one of the researchers from NUS said the aim of the research is to synthesize new complexes that could be applied to the industrial processes in the chemicals industry.
The projects will have experts from the two world-renowned universities working closely together over a period of three years.
GIST, the subsidiary of TUM manages the TUM-NUS joint academic and research programmes here in Singapore.
Said managing director of GIST Dr. Markus Waechter: “We are excited to learn about this. This is the first successful GIST-TUM-NUS research project collaboration and we thank A*STAR and MOE for their support.
"I believe that this will further strengthen the ties between Singapore and Germany in the research and development area," he continued.
He is positive that the successful collaboration is a great start of the many joint programmes that are to come in the years ahead.
The success affirms GIST’s continuous efforts in bringing the experts in the research and development field from the two countries together.
