1) What are the entry requirements?

A Bachelor Degree with at least a 2nd Upper Honours or European/German FH Diploma or its equivalent in areas of closely related discipline from a university with recognised standing.  Different MSc programmes have slight differences in the bachelor degree requirements depending on the course structure and the evaluation of the professor(s).

2) Do I need a TOEFL Test?
YES. You need a TOEFL or IELTS test for application. If your previous course of study was taught in English or if English is your native language you may not need a test. 
i.         TOEFL: A minimum of 580 for paper based test or 80 for internet based test.
ii.   IELTS: At least 6.5 (except for Master of Science in Transportation and Logistics)

3) Do I have to apply online?

Yes, you will have to submit an online application.

4) What are the documents I have to submit?
1 Passport-size photo
Photocopy of passport or ID
Photocopies of all academic transcripts and certificates (e.g birth certificate, national identity card, passport, degree scrolls and transcripts)
Detail curriculum vitae (including scope and duration of working experiences)
Letter of motivation (customised to show interest in the course applied
Two recommendation letters (Professor or Employer) including contact details
- Letter must be printed on company’s letter head and signed or
- Letter must be printed, signed and sent directly to GIST-TUM Asia by professor(s) from the University
Softcopy of the signed recommendation letter can be sent via email to GIST-TUM Asia in pdf format.
Samples of previous work (especially published research papers, presentations, etc.)

5) How do I pay the application fee?
The bank details will be provided after your application.
i.      By Cheque
Send crossed cheque of SGD 53.50 to German Institute of Science and Technology – TUM Asia Pte Ltd.
ii. By Bank Transfer
Kindly inform your bank to select ‘ÖUR’ for details of charges

6) When is the application deadline?
For August 2011 intake, the online application portal will be opened from 1st Dec 2010 to 15th March 2011. Kindly refer to http://www.gist.edu.sg/application.aspx.

7) When will I know the application results?
Applicants who are shortlisted for the offer will know the results in approximately 6 to 8 weeks after the complete and successful submission of the online application form and certified copies of supporting documents.
 
Please note that the waiting time could be longer if there is delay in the submission of supporting documents and the evaluating professors need more time to access your application.

8) How do I apply for a scholarship?
Applicants to GIST-TUM Asia need not apply for scholarship on their own. All outstanding applicants who are shortlisted for admission into our courses will go through the screening process for the industrial and GIST scholarships directly. There are three different scholarships available, kindly refer to: http://www.gist.edu.sg/scholarship.aspx

DAAD scholarships will
be given to selected students after one semester of studies with GIST-TUM Asia.

9) Do i need to apply for entry visa?

Student Affairs Officers will email to accepted international students the In Principal Approval (IPA) letter. This IPA letter acts as an entry visa to Singapore. There is no need to apply for any other visa prior to your trip to Singapore.  Rest assure that you will not be considered as entering illegally into Singapore as long as you have the IPA letter with you. Please contact student.affairs@gist.edu.sg for more information on IPA letter.

10) How much are the living costs in Singapore?
Depending on your lifestyle, the range would be between S$1000 - S$1500.

11) How can I find an accommodation in Singapore?
All international students are advised to look for their own accommodation in Singapore. However, Student Affairs Officers will give you a list of recommended housing accommodation in your pre-arrival package. Please contact student.affairs@gist.edu.sg for your pre-arrival package.

13) Do I need to inform you which courses I take?
Yes, we need to know your choice of programme and the electives that you will be taking.

14) Do I need to sign up for the courses?
This depends on the single course. Usually for courses at NTU/NUS you have to sign up through their internet platform. For courses from TUM you have to inform us which elective you take.

15) If I want to do my internship in Germany, what should I do?
During your first semester there will be an information session, where all the details will be discussed.

16) Do you support me in finding an internship?
Students have to look for the companies which they would like to have their internship.

GIST-TUM Asia will invite industrial partners to give free seminars to the students occasionally. Students are advised to attend seminars, company visits and company field trips organised by GIST-TUM Asia to network with the industrial partners.

17) Does GIST-TUM Asia help to find jobs for graduating students?
Graduating students are advised to start looking for job opportunities after they have submitted their final thesis.
